MEXC Restricted Countries, From MEXC's Own Terms

By Kaspar KuhiUpdated: 11 min read

Three MEXC documents answer "is MEXC available in my country", and on 13 September 2026 they did not agree with each other. The User Agreement prohibits 13 named jurisdictions. A support page updated on 26 August lists the app as available in 166 countries, eight of them from the prohibited list. And a June fee announcement sets trading fees for users in a country the terms say cannot register. This page lays all three out, country by country, and explains the difference between a country you can reach MEXC from and a country where MEXC is allowed to serve you.

Regulatory position: eight regulators, among them the UK FCA, Japan's FSA and BaFin, have published warnings about MEXC, and the Seychelles regulator has said it cannot help users recover funds. Every source, linked.

Named countries and territories in the Prohibited Jurisdiction clause of the MEXC User Agreement

Plus any territory under comprehensive EU, OFAC or FATF-blacklist sanctions. The clause calls the list "non-exclusive and subject to change".

The list that counts: the User Agreement

The only document that binds MEXC is the User Agreement, and the section that matters is headed "Prohibited Jurisdiction". Quoting it as it read on 13 September 2026:

"Currently, MEXC does not provide Services, nor do we accept registration of Users or trade applications, in the following countries: North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine (currently including Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Sevastopol), Canada, and/or country or territory subject to comprehensive economic or trade sanctions administered by: (i) the European Union […]; (ii) the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); or (iii) any country identified by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as a 'High-Risk Jurisdiction Subject to a Call for Action'"

That is 13[src] named entries plus the sanctions catch-all. Three sentences later come the two clauses that most restricted-countries pages leave out. The list "is non-exclusive and is subject to change, at any time and from time to time, by MEXC in its absolute sole discretion". And if MEXC decides you "have given false representations of your location or place of residence", it reserves the right to take action "including termination of any Account immediately and liquidating any open positions". You also "undertake to inform MEXC at the earliest possible opportunity" if you move to a prohibited country.

Two things stand out about who is on the list. The United Kingdom and Canada are, and most people assume they are not. And no EU member state is, despite two EU regulators having published that MEXC may not serve their residents — which is a long enough story to have its own page.

The list that contradicts it: the app page

MEXC's help centre has a page titled Countries/Regions Supported by the MEXC App, a table of where the app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play, marked as last updated on 26 August 2026. I parsed the table rather than reading it, because it has 166[src] rows. Every row but one shows a tick in both columns; Israel has the app on the App Store only.

Then I checked the 13 prohibited jurisdictions against it. 8[src] of them are in the table as available on both stores: the United States, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Iran, Sudan and Cuba. The four that are absent are the United Kingdom, Malaysia, mainland China and North Korea. So a person in Toronto or Singapore can, according to MEXC, install the app from the official store, and, according to MEXC, may not register on it.

I want to be precise about what this does and does not show. A listing in an app store is a distribution decision, and it is not a promise that the account will work. It is entirely possible that a US user downloads the app and is stopped at registration or at KYC. What the two documents show is that MEXC's own answer to "is it available here" depends on which of its pages you read, and the pages that say "yes" are the ones a search engine surfaces first.

The third document: fees for a prohibited country

On 4 June 2026 MEXC announced adjusted futures fees for new users, with a zero-fee quota for those who complete advanced KYC and then "standard fee rates" by region. The first regional heading in the announcement is "Users from Malaysia & Taiwan", with a BTC taker rate of 0.02%. The terms and conditions at the bottom say the adjustment "applies only to new users in Chinese-speaking regions and Malaysia". Malaysia is the seventh entry in the prohibited list.

I do not know which document reflects what actually happens to a Malaysian applicant, and I am not going to guess. I am showing you the three pages side by side because the lesson generalises: MEXC's published position on where it operates is not one position. Treat the User Agreement as the one that will be quoted back at you if something goes wrong, because it is the one you agreed to.

Country by country

Three columns, kept deliberately separate: what MEXC's terms say, what a regulator in that country has published, and what MEXC's app page says. The regulator column links are on the safety page; "nothing I could find" means exactly that and is not a clean bill.

Reachable is not the same as allowed

Every "MEXC restricted countries" page I read collapses three different questions into one yes or no. They are worth pulling apart, because each has a different consequence.

  • Does MEXC's contract exclude me? If your country is in the prohibited list, the answer is yes, and the consequence sits inside the account: termination and liquidation if MEXC decides you misrepresented where you are. MEXC's Risk Control Guideline lists "trading activities originating from jurisdictions subject to enhanced due diligence" as a trigger, and proxies and VPNs as prohibited conduct.
  • Has my regulator said MEXC may not serve me? That is a statement about MEXC, not about you. Nothing I read from the FCA, BaFin, the AFM or the Japanese FSA penalises the customer. The consequence is what you do not get: no complaints route, no compensation scheme, no authority that will pick up the phone.
  • Can I install the app and get to the site? Almost everywhere, yes, which is why this question is the least useful of the three and the one most pages answer.

The VPN advice, and why I will not give it

A large share of the pages competing for this search end with the same paragraph: use a VPN, pick a server in a permitted country, register. I am an affiliate and it would be in my interest to say that too. I am not going to, for a reason that has nothing to do with ethics and everything to do with the documents above. The terms make misrepresented location grounds for immediate termination and liquidation. The guideline puts VPN use on the list of things the automated system is built to detect. And risk control, when it triggers, does not ask whether the balance is large. Registering through a VPN from a prohibited country is choosing an account that can be closed at any time, on grounds you agreed to, with no one to appeal to. That is not a workaround. It is the risk.

One product with its own list: tokenised stocks

MEXC's tokenised shares — NVDAon, AMZNon and the rest — are issued by Ondo, not MEXC, and Ondo's legal terms restrict them to persons outside the United States who are not "US persons" under Regulation S. So even a US resident who somehow holds a working MEXC account is excluded from that product by a second set of terms. What those tokens actually are is its own page.

My read

If your country is in the prohibited list, the honest answer is no, whatever the app store shows, and the sites telling you otherwise are selling you an account with a fuse in it. If your country has published a warning but is not on the list — Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, India — MEXC will take you, and you are trading with an exchange your own regulator has said should not be serving you, with the consequences that follow if anything goes wrong. If your country is in neither category, the position is the same as for most of the world: reachable, unlicensed, and entirely your own risk to carry.

This site carries a referral code for readers in the second and third groups. It has nothing for the first, and this page will not help anyone pretend to be in a different country than they are.

Questions people ask

Is MEXC available in the US?

MEXC's User Agreement lists the United States as a prohibited jurisdiction: no services and no registration. Separately, its app page says the app is on the US App Store and Google Play, no MSB registration for MEXC appears in FinCEN's register, and the tokenised stocks it lists are offered only to non-US persons under Regulation S. Reachable, not permitted.

Is MEXC available in the UK?

No. The United Kingdom is in the prohibited list in MEXC's terms, the FCA has published a warning that MEXC is not authorised, and the UK is absent from MEXC's app-availability page. This is the clearest 'no' on the list.

Is MEXC available in Canada?

MEXC's terms prohibit Canada. Its app page, updated 26 August 2026, lists Canada as available on both stores, and the British Columbia Securities Commission has MEXC on its investment caution list. If you can download the app that does not change what the terms say.

Is MEXC legal in Europe?

No EU country is in the prohibited list, so MEXC will let you register. It has no MiCA authorisation, it is on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities via the Dutch AFM, and BaFin has published a warning. The obligation MiCA imposes is on MEXC, not on you, but none of the protections a licensed exchange must provide apply. The MiCA page on this site goes through it.

Is MEXC available in India?

India is not in the prohibited list, but the app is not distributed there and India's Financial Intelligence Unit issued MEXC a show-cause notice under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in December 2023. I could not find a public resolution of that notice.

Can I use MEXC with a VPN from a restricted country?

You can, and the terms say what happens if you are found to have misrepresented your location: MEXC reserves the right to terminate the account immediately and liquidate any open positions. Its Risk Control Guideline lists VPN and proxy use among the things its system looks for. The sites that recommend a VPN are recommending the one thing that can cost you the whole balance.

Sources, read 13 September 2026: the MEXC User Agreement (Prohibited Jurisdiction section), the MEXC support page "Countries/Regions Supported by the MEXC App" (updated 26 August 2026, parsed in full), MEXC's announcement of 4 June 2026 on new-user futures fees, and the regulator publications documented on the safety page. MEXC can change any of these without notice and says so; if the prohibited list changes, the quotation above is out of date from that day.
