Regulatory position: eight regulators, among them the UK FCA, Japan's FSA and BaFin, have published warnings about MEXC, and the Seychelles regulator has said it cannot help users recover funds. Every source, linked.

MEXC is known for its competitive fee structure, but traders can potentially save more with the right strategies. New to the platform? Start with my beginner's guide to MEXC.

1. What MEXC actually charges

Most pages about MEXC fees will tell you that rates "vary" and send you off to check for yourself. Here are the numbers, read from MEXC on 23 August 2026, each one linked to where it came from so you can check that I did not make it up.

MEXC spot maker fee

0%

The rate that applies to an order that adds liquidity to the book.

MEXC's own spot API (exchangeInfo, BTCUSDT) — checked August 23, 2026

MEXC spot taker fee

0.05%

Read live from MEXC for BTC/USDT. This is the rate most trades actually pay, because a market order is a taker order.

MEXC futures maker fee

0%

MEXC publishes this rate with no tier or qualifier attached. Check your own account before trading: see the note on account-level adjustments below.

MEXC Help Center, futures trading FAQ — checked August 23, 2026

MEXC futures taker fee

0.02%

The published rate. An account I looked at was being charged 0.040% instead, with MEXC stating that account's futures rate had been temporarily adjusted — so treat your own account page as authoritative for you.

The distinction that matters more than the tiers: a maker order sits on the book and waits, a taker order fills against what is already there. Every market order you place is a taker order. So if you trade by hitting the market price, the fee you pay on spot is 0.05%[src], not the headline zero.

There is one large exception, and it is genuinely useful: MEXC has run a zero-fee promotion on USDC-quoted spot pairs since December 2024, at 0% / 0%[src] for both sides. If the pair you want exists with a USDC quote, trading it there rather than against USDT is the single cheapest change most people can make.

Your account can be charged a different rate

The figures above are what MEXC publishes. They are not necessarily what you are charged. On a real account I looked at on 23 August 2026, every futures contract showed 0.040% taker instead of the published 0.02%[src], with a notice from MEXC on the same page saying that account's futures rate had been temporarily adjusted. Spot was unaffected. Before you size a trade, open the fee page while signed in and read your own numbers — that page is authoritative for you, and this one is not.

2. Pick the right network when you withdraw

Deposits cost you nothing on MEXC's side — Free[src] on every network it lists, though the blockchain still charges you to send the coins. Withdrawals are where the money quietly goes, and almost every guide answers "what is the BTC withdrawal fee" with a single number. There is no single number. There is a number per network, and the gap is not small.

Read from MEXC's own fee table on 23 August 2026, for one coin, Bitcoin:

NetworkWithdrawal feeMinimum
Bitcoin (native)0.00002 BTC0.00008 BTC
Lightning0.000001 BTC0.000004 BTC
BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)0.00000025 BTC0.00002 BTC

Same coin, same exchange, same moment: the native Bitcoin network costs roughly eighty times what the BEP20 route costs. If you are moving small amounts regularly, that difference will dwarf anything you save on trading fees.

The obvious conclusion is the wrong one, though, so here is the caveat that matters more than the saving. A cheaper network is a different asset representation — BTC on BNB Smart Chain is a wrapped token, not Bitcoin on Bitcoin — and the receiving wallet or exchange has to support that exact network. Send on a network the destination does not support and the coins are usually gone. Match the network to where it is going first, and only then let the fee decide between the options that actually work.

The same thing, for USDT

Bitcoin makes the point, but most people move stablecoins, so here is the coin that actually matters. I opened the Deposit/Withdrawal tab on my own fee page on 29 August 2026 and read the USDT rows off it. Deposits were free on every network listed. Withdrawals were not.

NetworkUSDT withdrawal feeMinimum
PlasmaFree10
Avalanche C-Chain0.0000744
Polygon0.00655
Optimism0.00783
BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)0.010.5
Conflux eSpace0.011
Toncoin0.0178
Arbitrum One0.051
Ethereum (ERC20)0.0948
Solana0.1810
NEAR0.22
Tron (TRC20)0.52
Polkadot AssetHub12
Kaia12

Tron (TRC20) is the network most people reach for out of habit, and it cost 0.5 USDT. Polygon cost 0.0065 for moving the same money, about seventy-seven times less. Plasma was free outright.

Withdraw once a month on TRC20 out of habit and that is roughly 6 USDT a year handed over for nothing. Against a spot taker rate of 0.05%[src], six dollars of fees is what you would pay trading about twelve thousand dollars. Very few readers of this page will save more by optimising their maker-taker mix than by changing one dropdown.

Every figure in both tables is a snapshot, not a promise. MEXC recalculates withdrawal fees against live network conditions, which is exactly why a single quoted number ages badly. Treat the ordering as the durable part, check the withdrawal screen at the moment you withdraw, and confirm the receiving end supports the network before the fee gets a vote.

3. Use a Partner Code (FAIRTRADE)

When registering on MEXC, entering a partner code like FAIRTRADE may unlock fee discounts and promotional rewards. The specific benefits depend on MEXC's current promotions and your eligibility.

Note: Partner codes connect your account to MEXC's affiliate program. I earn a commission when you trade, at no extra cost to you.

4. Switch on the MX deduction

If you hold MEXC's own token, MX, you can have trading fees taken from it instead, at a 20%[src] discount. Applied to the spot taker fee that is 0.05%[src] becoming 0.04%[src] — MEXC's own worked example, not my arithmetic.

It is opt-in. Nothing happens until you switch it on, which is the part most guides leave out: on the web it is a toggle on MEXC's fee page, and in the app it sits under your profile icon.

Ignore the "500 MX for 50% off" advice

You will find it repeated across dozens of pages, and in some of MEXC's own older articles. MEXC suspended the MX Holder Discount on 9 February 2026. The 20%[src] deduction above is what remains. Buying 500 MX to chase a discount that no longer exists would be an expensive way to follow stale advice — MEXC's own announcement is the source.

5. Increase Trading Volume for VIP Benefits

MEXC rewards active traders through a tiered VIP system. The more you trade, the higher your level and potentially lower your fees. You can monitor your progress within your MEXC account dashboard.

  • VIP tiers are based on 30-day trading volume
  • Fee discounts may increase with each tier
  • Additional perks may include higher withdrawal limits

6. Join MEXC Promotions and Campaigns

MEXC may run limited-time promotions that offer fee rebates or bonus rewards. Stay updated by checking the 'Promotions' tab on MEXC or their official social media channels.

7. Combine Multiple Savings Methods

For potential savings, consider combining several methods: using a partner code, enabling MX token discounts, and increasing your trading volume over time. See my guide to accessing MEXC rewards safely for more details. Check MEXC's terms for how these benefits interact.
